Overview:
The Scientist, R&D role requires advanced scientific knowledge and extensive experience in their field. Candidates must be effective lab scientists, communicators, innovators, and capable leaders who can drive scientific innovation and research excellence within our organization.

Role:

• Leadership: Lead scientific efforts within the organization, complete R&D and service projects.
• Strategy and Innovation: Develop and execute scientific strategies in the wet lab.
• Communication: Present scientific findings to stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Scientific Leadership: Independently organize research and development activities, define experimental designs, and develop effective experimental strategies and execute experiments in the lab with precision and accuracy. This position is lab based and 90-100 percent on-site.
• Research Oversight: Oversee and manage research projects, ensuring timely and high-quality completion. This may involve leading interdisciplinary matrix research teams and collaborating with other scientists, experts, and customers.
• Scientific Innovation: Stay current with the latest scientific developments and technological advancements in the field, identifying opportunities for innovation and advancement within the organization.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including academic institutions, government agencies, industry partners, and funding organizations, to foster research collaborations.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that research and development activities comply with relevant regulatory requirements and quality standards, particularly in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
• Talent Development: Play a key role in training and developing junior scientific talent within the organization, including mentoring and providing guidance to researchers and scientists.
• Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and present reports, publications, and presentations on the organization’s research findings and progress to various stakeholders, including customers.

Qualifications

• A Ph.D. in a relevant field such as neuroscience, molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience in cell biology, cell imaging and analysis.
• >3 years of experience in the field of drug discovery or cell therapy in pharmaceutical companies.
• Good understanding of protocol and report documentation.
• Proven experience in managing and driving research projects.

Work Environment:

• Ricoh Biosciences is located at the Science and Technology Park of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland
• This position is NOT remote and requires work in the lab most of the time.

Physical demands:

• The employee may be required to stand, walk, or sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms, lift up to 40 lbs.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

• Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9am – 5pm. Some evening and weekend work may be required as assigned by the management.

Travel:

• Willing to travel occasionally. International travel may be required.
