Role Summary
We are seeking a proactive On-Site IT Operations & Project Lead to drive our IT infrastructure and employee experience at our expanding Baltimore site (U.S. headquarters). In this role, you will act as the primary bridge between the Global Group IT team and our local operations. You will manage day-to-day IT operations using modern cloud-based tools (Google Workspace, Google Cloud) and lead critical projects, including our upcoming office relocation and facility setup.
This is a unique opportunity to build a scalable IT environment from the ground up for a fast-growing biotech company, directly contributing to our mission of advancing iPSC technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the IT aspects of the upcoming office relocation project, including requirements definition, vendor coordination, cutover planning, and acceptance testing for server room, cabling, and AV.
- Define project scope, manage WBS (Work Breakdown Structure), and oversee budget/timeline to ensure successful delivery.
- Coordinate with external vendors and internal stakeholders to align requirements.
- Manage hybrid infrastructure: Oversee the operation and maintenance of on-premise servers, network equipment, and cloud resources
(Google Cloud /Google Workspace). - Ensure high availability and security of the office network (LAN/Wi-Fi/VPN) to support seamless operations.
- Manage IT assets and local vendors, ensuring SLAs and budget requirements are met.
- Lead application implementation: Identify business needs and lead the implementation of new SaaS applications or internal tools to enhance productivity.
- Optimize workflows: Analyze existing internal workflows and propose automation or system improvements to reduce manual overhead.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure smooth adoption of new tools through documentation and user training.
- Data Integrity & Flow: Maintain and monitor data flows between local systems and global databases, ensuring data accuracy and availability.
- Database Maintenance: Perform basic administration and troubleshooting for MySQL databases and support integration with other business applications.
- Work with the global data team to implement data governance policies at the local level.
- Serve as the primary on-site support contact for staff, troubleshooting issues related to PCs (Windows/Mac), mobile devices, and office equipment.
- Manage user onboarding/offboarding processes, ensuring a smooth “Day 1” experience for new hires.
- Implement and maintain security practices (MFA/SSO usage, access control hygiene, device security baselines, backup discipline)
- Support audits and internal security improvements with documentation and evidence collection
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT/Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- 4+ years of experience in Corporate IT, Information Systems, or Technical Project Management.
- Strong hands-on experience with Google Workspace administration and SaaS management.
- Solid understanding of office network infrastructure (Wi-Fi, LAN, VPN, firewall concepts).
- Basic understanding of databases (SQL) and data integration concepts.
- Vendor management experience (negotiation, RFP, progress management).
Preferred
- Experience in Life Sciences / Biotech / Pharmaceutical industry.
- Proven experience leading IT facility projects (e.g., office moves, network build-outs).
- Experience with Google Cloud or AWS.
- Knowledge of website maintenance (WordPress, etc.) or basic web technologies.
- ITIL certification or PMP certification.

Work Environment / Location
- On-site: Science and Technology Park at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Maryland
- Standard hours: Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm (some evenings/weekends may be required during cutovers/moves)
Physical Demands
- Primarily desk-based, with regular activities including organizing the data closet and moving/configuring PCs and hardware equipment when necessary.
Travel
- No travel is expected.
Employment Type: Full-time
Location: On-site (Baltimore, MD)
Compensation: $60,000–$70,000 base + up to 10% bonus based on performance
